InterCommunity Foundation

Founded in 2011, InterCommunity Foundation dedicates itself to helping InterCommunity in their mission to improve the lives of people living with mental health and addiction disorders.

The mission of InterCommunity Foundation is to develop financial support and build community awareness for InterCommunity, Inc.

InterCommunity Foundation offers financial support to InterCommunity for:

  • Enhancing the ongoing financial viability of the agency
  • New and expanded behavioral health services and programs for children, adults and families
  • Improved community awareness initiatives that educate and build support regarding behavioral health issues

InterCommunity Foundation Board Members

Donald Peterson, Retired Insurance Executive
Don has 31 years of senior management experience at several insurance companies.  His responsibilities included profit and loss responsibility for multiple insurance product lines, sales and marketing leadership, corporate planning and new product development.   He served at Aetna, Travelers and Wellpoint.
In retirement he has been actively involved in several nonprofit organizations serving on the Boards of InterCommunity (past Chairman), Friends of Glastonbury Rowing (Treasurer), the Webb-Deane-Stevens Advisory Committee and Mystic Yachting Center (past President). He chaired the search committee at Inter Community in 2003, and currently is the President of the InterCommunity Foundation Board.

John Choquette, Director of Development and Planning for the Town of East Hartford
John is a successful local government administrator with over forty years of experience and has held managerial positions in the private sector after honorably serving in the U.S. Navy.
John was a member of the Board of Directors for InterCommunity for over ten years and is currently the Vice President of the Intercommunity Foundation Board.

Joyce Rossignol, Senior Editor, Life Publications
Joyce became involved with InterCommunity in the 1970s. She served many terms on the Board of Directors, and is currently the Secretary for the InterCommunity Foundation Board.
Joyce has been proud to be part of the growth of this organization, when InterCommunity was composed of volunteers dedicated to a goal of heartfelt help for those who were struggling with a mental illness. Today InterCommunity pursues that same goal, with a first rate professional staff providing community service still with a full heart, and still needed.

Lawrence B. Zarbo, Planning Analyst with Community Renewal Team, Inc.
Larry is involved with program planning and design, funding research and grant development.
He served as member of InterCommunity from 2004 to 2010, and was Vice Chairman from 2008 to 2010. Larry currently serves a Director on the InterCommunity Foundation Board.
