InterCommunity’s adult mental health outpatient services are located in Hartford and East Hartford. We offer same-day appointments, and convenient “Walk-In Assessment” hours let you get started on healing when you’re ready. Our team of experienced clinical staff offers initial assessments, individual, family and group therapy, Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP),  and medication management to those over the age of 18 who are struggling with a wide range of issues including:

  • response to major life events, such as a recent death or medical diagnosis
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • co-occurring disorders ( mental health and substance use issues)
  • dealing with the effects of past or current trauma
  • grief and loss
  • severe and prolonged mental illness

    Our Approach

    Innovative~ Trauma Informed~ Evidence-Based

    InterCommunity’s  Adult Outpatient clinics offer same-day access to help you get started on healing when you’re ready. We offer initial assessments tailored to your specific needs.

    We approach our work from a culturally sensitive, trauma informed, gender responsive and strengths-based perspective.  In our clinical services we use a number of evidence-based practices including:

    • Cognitive Behavior Therapy
    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy
    • Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment
    • Motivational Enhancement Therapy
    • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
    • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
    • Seeking Safety
    • M-TREM

    All of these therapies use a stage-based approach to treatment.  This means we meet you where you are in your life and in your recovery and desire for care.

    Our Services

    We offer individual, family, and group therapy, medication management, as well as Intensive Outpatient Therapy (*See below) for co-occurring disorders. Adults ages 18 and older can address a wide range of issues including:   depression and anxiety, trauma and grief, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders ( for those struggling with both mental health concerns as well as substance use), anger management, and specialty work with those living with severe and prolonged mental illness.  Most of our groups are gender-specific and gender responsive.

    In addition, we offer medication management for psychiatric symptoms. We actively collaborate and coordinate with the additional resources in our system of care including Primary Care, Case Management and Social Rehabilitation.

    *Intensive Outpatient Therapy:  Our Co-occurring Intensive Outpatient Therapy Programs offer a higher level of support for those who are struggling with substance use and mental health disorders. The IOP is a structured program consisting of 3 clinical hours, 3 days a week. Consumers are offered a combination of psycho-education, coping skills, and psychotherapy to begin the process of healing within a supportive environment.  Both of our locations offer gender-specific day and evening intensive outpatient programs.

    Our clinical staff are all master’s trained clinicians ( LCSW, LMSW, LPC, MFT).  Our prescribing staff is made up of MDs and APRNs.

    InterCommunity's Latino Services allows monolingual or bilingual clients who identify Spanish as their preferred language to receive integrated healthcare.

    We understand the Latino community may face unique barriers to accessing quality healthcare. As a result, we have created a service and treatment environment that is both culturally competent and culturally sensitive. Our team of experienced bilingual staff in our Primary Care, Behavioral Health, and Addiction Services divisions work closely to provide the comprehensive treatment you deserve.

    Located at 281 Main Street in East Hartford, Latino Services offers convenient “Walk-In Assessment” hours, which allow you to get started with the healing process when you’re ready. Our bilingual clinicians offer mental health and substance abuse evaluations, individual, family and group therapy, and care coordination for Spanish-speaking adults (ages 18 and over) who are struggling with a wide range of issues including; response to major life events, such as a recent death or medical diagnosis, depression, anxiety, trauma or loss related concerns, co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use issues), and severe and prolonged mental illness.

    Eligibility and Access

    Spanish-speaking clients over the age of 18 are able to access Latino Services located in our East Hartford campus. We accept all insurances and will determine a sliding scale for reimbursement on a case-by-case basis. You have access to our services no matter where you live.

    If you would like to access our Latino Services, simply come in during our Walk-In Assessment Hours (Spanish) listed below. There is no need to call in advance or make an appointment.

    *Note: Primary care is now available at both of our Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health clinics!

    What to expect at your first visit

    Because we believe in treating the whole person, during your first visit you can expect to have a health screening with our Primary Care department and an assessment in our Behavioral Health department. By the end of your visit, we will have worked with you to determine what the next steps are in your pursuit of healing and recovery, and you will have your next appointment scheduled before you leave. This may or may not include an appointment in our primary care office.

    You always have the choice whether to have all or only some of your services at InterCommunity.  You will also be given a Handbook of Services outlining our programs and client rights and responsibilities (including your rights to privacy). Our staff will gladly be available to answer any questions you may have.

    Anyone age 18 and older can access our Adult Outpatient Clinics at our 2 locations in Hartford and East Hartford.  We accept clients no matter where they live. We accept all insurance and have a sliding scale for reimbursement.  Note: primary care is now available at both our Adult Outpatient Behavioral health clinic locations.

    We use a walk-in assessment system to make care convenient and easy to get. There is no need to call in advance. Simply walk in the day you are ready to start during our walk-in hours.
