Hartford, CT –InterCommunity’s Detoxification Center, located at 500 Blue Hills Avenue in Hartford, now offers medically monitored detoxification from benzodiazepines. The Detoxification Center is open for admission 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, depending on bed availability. Clients may be referred from any provider, social service agency or by self. The Detoxification Center continues to provide services for those suffering from alcohol and opioid withdrawal.
In general, benzodiazepines are effective drugs used in the short term to treat a wide range of conditions, including anxiety disorders, panic, agitation, alcohol dependence, seizures, and insomnia. The most commonly prescribed benzodiazepines are Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, and Ativan. They also can be drugs of abuse or dependence, obtained either through prescriptions or other sources. Withdrawal from benzodiazepines can be both difficult and dangerous.
