InterCommunity Health Care provides integrated health services to men and women recently released from prison in order to promote successful and healthy reintegration into their families and communities. Individuals receive comprehensive treatment for chronic medical conditions and peer support from a Community Health Worker who has a history of incarceration.

JUSTice Involved Individuals Study of

Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology:

We are seeking people who were recently incarcerated to join our JUSTICE Study. In conjunction with Yale University, InterCommunity will study the effects of incarceration on your physical and mental health. 

Eligible participants must be:

  • Have been released from incarceration in the last 90 days 


  • Be 21 years of age or older, speak English 


  • Plan to stay in the Hartford area for at least 12 months. 

Participants who commit to joining and completing the study will receive health care assessments and cardiovascular disease monitoring. As compensation for your time, you will get $60 for each of the three appointments, $5 each time you call us, and $20 for each telephone interview.
