InterCommunity Staff Present Published Research at Infectious Disease Week Conference in Washington, D.C
InterCommunity on a National Stage
From October 21-24, Juan LaBoy (InterCommunity's Director of Clinic Primary Care Services) and Gabriella Silverman (InterCommunity's Grants and Special Projects Manager) attended IDWeek (Infectious Disease Week), a conference in Washington, DC to present their poster titled, Hepatitis C Screening and Treatment Trends in Greater Hartford: A Whole-Person Approach for a High-Risk Population.
Their presentation highlighted InterCommunity's screening outcomes, linkage to care, and the importance of integrating primary care, behavioral health, and substance use treatment services. It also demonstrated how our comprehensive approach helps reduce barriers to care, supports treatment engagement, and contributes to broader efforts to prevent the spread of hepatitis C and other infectious diseases, including STIs.
The conference presented an exciting opportunity to represent InterCommunity at a national level and see the work happening right here in Greater Hartford be recognized and shared with healthcare leaders from across the country. More importantly, it reflects the dedication of our teams and the difference we’re making in reaching individuals who might otherwise go undiagnosed or untreated.
In addition to presenting their research, they attended programming that highlighted updates and breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infections including HIV and Hepatitis C. The lessons learned at this conference will help ensure that InterCommunity continues to be a leader in HIV and Hepatitis C care in Connecticut.
