Building Healthy Habits

Marlene Kurban • January 7, 2021

Building healthy habits is best done consistently over time.  Just a few simple changes every day can make a big difference in your physical and emotional health.  Start slowly and you’re more likely to stay on track.  Try these four changes this week:

  • Take the stairs or park farther away than you ordinarily would.  Adding small blocks of physical activity in your day can help relieve stress and make fitness a part of your daily lifestyle, even if you start out small.
  • Drink a glass of water before every meal.
  • Practice mini-relaxation sessions throughout the day.  Close your eyes, relax, breathe slowly and deeply for one to two minutes, and imagine a quiet, peaceful place.
  • Go to bed a half hour earlier.  Many people are sleep-deprived and adding an extra thirty minutes can improve mood and reduce stress.
